Sumatran
This coffee very much reflects its unique growing region. It has the rich body and mild acidity prized in an Indonesian coffee, These semi-washed Lintong 1 beans are from the Sari Makmur Co operative, a small union of smallholdings that surrounds the town of Takengon in Sumatra. Takengong sits in the highlands of western Sumatra, approximately 1400 to 1700 m.a.s.l., situated on the shores of Lake Lut Tawar. Coffee is planted alongside pulses, chillies and vegetables in the rich and fertile volcanic soils of this area, which lend it an unmistakable spicy aroma. We roast this coffee to a 'full-city roast' style to strengthen its rich body and slightly mute its berry sweetness. The resulting overall flavour is deep, strong and buttery with a spicy aroma and long lasting finish, something like unsweetened cocoa.
